Do you get bored of players performing the old Hollywood act when you’re playing live?
I know I do and over the last year or so there’s been a growing number of high profile players who feel the same way. Some have suggested that the rules be amended for live tournaments to prevent some of the more ridiculous time wasting behaviour that goes on. So is it time to introduce the “shot clock” for live poker tournaments?
We already have the ability to “put a clock” on slow players but it’s actually quite rare to see a player ask for a clock to be put on an opponent. Perhaps people feel it’s against the spirit of the game.
A shot clock would work the same as in other sports, like basketball, where the attacking team is given 24 seconds to take a shot or forfeit possession. Each player would have a set amount of time to make their play and it would apply to every player and to every single decision. (This is exactly how online poker already operates of course.)
