Waking up to check the poker news this morning I spied that Sam Trickett has won yet another enormous prize – 2 million Aussie dollars this time for the $250,000 super high roller that attracted 18 players. (He came 2nd in that event in January 2011, a month where he won $3m in three tournaments.) That’s on top of the $10.1m he won for the 2nd place in the “One Drop”. In all he’s copped for $19.5m in tournaments, but it’s not just the super high buy in events he wins at: they say he’s quite good at cash games too.
Now I must confess I haven’t seen a great deal of him in action. So this is why I’m asking the question of you: Just how good is Sam Trickett? When I’ve seen him play he just always seems to have a better hand than his opponent! That’s a good skill to have by the way, but there’s a bloke on the 2+2 forum who reckons he isn’t even GOOD at poker! (They always were a tough crowd.) So what do you reckon? Answer this week’s poll and leave a comment with your Twitter username to be in with a chance of winning an Irish Open satellite token.
Congratulations to @fiercelyacute for winning last week’s poll.
Can I not have “Merely Excellent” and “on a massive heater” which is a pretty bloody good combination and might make him the scariest guy to play against right now with your house on the line. @fiercelyacute
he is pretty good.winning lots of money lately and appears to be well got in the poker community,so i guess theres the proof in the pudding
@pcbunter
i would not like to come up against him in a High stakes cash game. he is doing well on the all-time poker money list ,which to me would make it a good player. he must be doing some thing right. @djdoc2001
he is alright but he will soon be dominated by the many great irish players coming through

Massive heater. Science doesn’t always win at the table. @JulsAtHome
As much as i would like to hate Sam Trickett , i think it must be about time to give that dude some overdue respect….
