Poll of the Week

Something just occurred to me.  When I logged on to play poker last night from my hotel, if I’m not mistaken it was the first time I’d played since the middle of November!

That might not mean much to you, but for me that is a seriously long gap – easily the longest since I started playing online poker.  By a mile. I mean it’s not even close. Perhaps I’ve taken a break for two weeks before, but we’re talking almost two months here!

So this week’s question is: What is your longest break between poker games since you started playing? Answer this week’s poll and leave a comment with your Twitter username to be in with a chance of winning a token to my bounty game (which will be restarting this Friday at 8pm.)

Congratulations to Dave Clayton (@BenBulben40 on Twitter) for winning our last poll. And apologies for having to wait a month to collect! I liked his answer to the question “Can Harry Redknapp save QPR from relegation this year?” so much that I’ve reproduced it in full below.  Loved the line about the talking clock :)

“In an article this week it states how brilliant ‘Arry is at working magic with underachieving players like Taraabt and turning them into world beaters. The same Redknapp who showed Taraabt the door at Spurs? The same Redknapp who couldn’t get a tune out of Kevin Prince Boeteng and who now is one of the best midfielders in Serie A? Harry Redknapp who was going to, and I kid you not, loan Gareth Bale out to Nottingham Forest had Assou-Ekotto not got injured and he had to play him at LB and only moving him up to left midfield/wing when BAE came back and he didn’t know what else to do with him. Redknapp did some good things with us while at White Hart Lane but he is a chancer and bullsh*tter and if he told me it was 1pm I’d ring up the speaking clock to check. Merry Christmas, one and all :-) @BenBulben40″

Glad you liked the clock gag and welcome back Mr Mays :-) I’ve been playing online solidly (yet as a casual player) since 2004 and took an 8 month break this year. I had fallen out of love with the game and quite simply couldn’t be bothered anymore. Since returning in November I’ve found my old mojo and am really enjoying it AND getting a few results as well. This break has done me a world of good in every aspect.

I think about 6 months…while away on holidays or in the summer when the evenings are longer I tend not to play. Everyone needs to take a break at times and I find that when you come back your love for the game gets even better!@pcbunter

My longest break from the tables would have been between May and October,a few years back. I started a job with very unsociable hours hours,an i couldnt even play inbetween breaks as they had sites block. @djdoc2001

  4. I’ve gone over a month without playing but u find the itch always gets me. Not that I fight the itch all that hard.
