This week the news the entire world was waiting to happen actually happened! Phil Hellmuth won bracelet number 12!
(OK the first part of that statement is manifestly untrue)
Like everyone else with a little bit of darkness in their heart, I was mischievously delighted last year when he kept blowing huge chip leads and coming 2nd but you’ve got to say fair play to the man for this. Unlike his other 11 bracelets, this one wasn’t in Texas Holdem either – it was seven card razz, which is a really rubbish game to be fair. But Hellmuth won’t care because that win puts clear ground between him and the chasing pack in the all time WSOP bracelet race (Jonny Chan and Doyle Brunson have 10 bracelets each)
He took the win in his stride but still managed to demonstrate he is a mental as a box of frogs when he said through some low quality new facial hair: “It was a big swing in the bracelet race too I guess, because if I don’t win and he (Phil Ivey) does win, it’s 11 to nine, and if I win and he doesn’t win, it’s 12 to eight, and I know he wants to race me to 25.” OK Phil.
After a poor 2009 Phil Hellmuth took a good look at himself and made some lifestyle improvements. When he started turning things around he announced “I am all PEMM baby, Positive, Exercising, Meditating, and in the Moment!”
Whatever.
So I thought a Phil Hellmuth related Poll of the Week was in order, you know, to celebrate. What statement do you think sums up Phil Hellmuth the best? Answer this week’s poll and leave a comment with your Twitter username to be in with a chance of winning a €11 Irish Winter Festival token.
Congratulations to @djdoc2001 for winning last week’s poll.
