Julian Gardner, one of the biggest names left in the field, has just been eliminated at the hands of new big-stack Steve Watts. Gardner got his 435,000 chips in before the flop with Kh-9s against the Ah-Js of Watts. Down but not out, Gardner still needed a little help from Lady Luck to take the pot, but a board of 3c-2d-Qs-Ad-Ac gave Watts trip Aces, which was more than enough to end Julian Gardner’s Irish Open. Watts is up to the best part of 1,500,000 after the hand. 17 left!
